Are you like my sister? RSS Feed

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

My sister and her family made a rare visit to our house last Saturday. It was pleasant actually. I was pleased to see her. The children all played happily together upstairs while we talked downstairs. I started talking with her husband about business, his and mine. I showed him how my business is changing…. and talked about my plans for the future and for my new website, which I pulled up on my laptop for them to look at. I wondered whether my business model might work for his electrician’s business and we kicked around a few online ideas together. At which point my sister protested, “yeah, but who’s going to just buy a book from you online without knowing you?” As I explained how the site worked and who might be likely to benefit from my online knowledge, another objection came through. “Who believes all those testimonials anyway! Anyone could have written those!”

Regardless of our family’s sensibilities, her views are potentially views that a number of people might share and it made me think. Are you getting to know me? Do you know who I am? Is anything I share with you on this newsletter of any interest to you? Well, only you can know that. And all I can do is continue to share my experience with you in the knowledge that it will improve the lives of some of you now, though not necessarily all of you. But the thing with life and self development is that we never stand still. To stand still is, in fact, to go backwards. So maybe, at some point, you might need the benefit of my experience, but not now. Perhaps you know other people who might need the benefit of my experience now. If you do, click on the ‘thinking of a friend’ tab below you can forward this site to them.

Alternatively, if you would like to make sure you get my regular newsletter, fill in your details at the http://www.theopenmindguide.com/newsletter-signup/ button above. If I’ve helped you already you’ll know the value of introducing me to your friends or family. I’m happy to help.
